So you've secured tickets to Taylor's Eras Tour but are you ready for it? I just attended the Lisbon Eras Tour Night 1 and I must admit it exceeded all of my wildest dreams! This video and blog article will equip you with must dos and dont's and give you the best Taylor Swift Eras Tour concert tips!
Months Before the Show
Gather intel and excitement
While I was asking questions on Facebook about the Lisbon stadium someone directed me towards a specific Facebook group for Taylor Swift concert goers in Lisbon! Every city where the tour is playing will have their own Facebook group dedicated to the concert. Finding and joining one of these groups is especially useful if you are attending a European tour, because you will gain travel and cultural tips as well as make friends that live in the area. My husband and I even attended a free Taylor Swift themed Lisbon walking tour hosted by a member of the group before the show! Any questions you have about the area can be searched for and answered in these groups. They are sometimes even more helpful than the venue's websites.
VIP vs. GA Prep
If you bought a VIP ticket then please beware that there are no assigned seats which means you will have to prepare differently than GA attendees. Firstly, this means that you will have to arrive at the concert venue earlier so that you can get a better spot closer to Taylor. At the Lisbon show VIP concert goers camped outside the line the night before so that they could be inches away from blondie! Also, this means you will be standing for a minimum of ten hours, three hours for the concert and five hours (or more) of waiting time in line and two hours of walking around the trains to get home. So sorry ladies but stilettos aren't gotta work for the VIP experience. Be sure to to get advice from other VIP holders for concert prep so that you can prepare adequately for the show.
Your Look and Accessories
Your costume or outfit will take longer to prepare than you think! If you are constructing a look by hand through painting fabric, bedazzling gems or creating a music video replica give ample time for your masterpiece! At our show one Swiftie confessed to me that she had another custom outfit she was creating but she didn't finish it in time so she had to settle for the normal sparkly skirt getup. This holds true if you are ordering a piece as well, shipping alone could take a few weeks! And don't get me started on the bracelets! Those take a long time to make so commit to creating at least one a night before the show! I thought my outfit would be easy to prepare since it was a regular looking outfit from Taylor's music video for "Begin Again". But, alas, it took me about four months of searching on thrifting websites and stores to find the perfect copies of her shirt, skirt, shoes and hair!
Days Before the Show
Details
Work on the details! Don't wait until the day of for transportation and bag choosing! Figure out which train you are taking to the venue or schedule your Uber ride days in advance. Reconfirm your venue's rules on what's allowed and baggage sizes. Get out your tape measure to measure your bag before the day of in case you need to go shopping for a new one. Pack your bag beforehand and try on your outfit in case a pin needs to be added!
Get beauty sleep
Especially if you are in Europe, don't plan a crazy walking or tour day before your concert! You will be on your feet standing for at least eight hours for waiting time, the show, and getting home, even for General Admission with assigned seats! So you'll need to get a good night's sleep and not strain your muscles or feet the day beforehand.
Day of the Show
What to Bring
Even if your venue is indoors, you'll still be waiting outside for hours so you need to wear and bring sunscreen! Also bring tissues because you will cry during the "All Too Well" Taylor's ten minute version and during other songs in her acoustic set. Bring with you a SMALL portable charger that you can fit in your bra, some venues are prohibiting portable chargers. We brought two, one I smuggled in my bra and the other was a large rectangular one that we tried to hide in our bag. They confiscated the large one but didn't catch the little one so I was able to keep my device charged all night! Find in this list the items I brought with me to the eras tour including the small phone charger, the fanny pack that followed the size limits and the bracelet making kit I used to create friendship bracelets beforehand.
Travel and Transport
Dedicate your whole day and night to the concert. You'll need ample time to get dressed, make TikToks, travel to the venue, wait outside in line and then stay up all night getting home and winding down from the amazing show! Add three extra hours for arrival and departure. The train station in Lisbon was so packed after the show that we had to waddle through the crowds for an hour just to get inside of the station and to the platform!
After the Show
Keep your schedule empty the day after the show because you will be sleeping late, resting your feet and editing and posting all of your fabulous pictures and videos! Also resell your Eras outfit and bracelets if you don't plan to wear them again. It's better for the environment and it will give you good Swiftie Karma! Then decide how to memorialize your concert experience so you can look back on it forever! For me, I created a YouTube video with all my memories that I can watch again and again! But for some they journal, create displays and print photos! Below are some adorable Taylor Swift Eras concert keepsake boxes for your ticket stubs, confetti and photographs!
