Delicious Vegan Food in London

4 minEngland

London is known for its beautiful architecture and double decker buses, but did you know it's one of the most vegan-centered cities on the globe! It was named the Number #1 Most Vegan Friendly City in the World by the vegan website HappyCow. According to the site, Central London currently has 161 fully vegan restaurants, 350 fully vegan establishments, and 1,997 listings of eateries with vegan options. Let's just say, my vegan husband and I were in HEAVEN!

In this vlog we visit six quirky vegan-friendly eateries in the Waterloo, Westminster, Soho and Camden areas of London, and eat all types of food from ramen, tacos, ice cream and more! Below is my review of these lovely establishments! If you're a vegan, save this article and video for your next London adventure!

The Glitch

The perfect little bar for an early morning vegan toastie or vegan almond crossaint and cozy cup of coffee or tea. It's in the heart of Waterloo, London and was right next to our hotel. At night it transforms into an event space with LGBTQIA events, comedy, spoken word and more.

M'eat the Vegan's

My personal favorite of all the restaurants on this list! A fully vegan establishment in Camden Market with a four page menu of Indian, Carribean, Mexican, American and Asian inspired vegan dishes! This is a must-visit for any vegan traveler! We got the Jackfruit Drumsticks, Tacos and Loaded Nachos and couldn't have been happier. Cedric got the Biscoff Milkshake which is made of the popular Biscoff European cookies that happen to be vegan. Our English friend and I stole a couple sips. Delicious!

Ramen Impossible

This newer joint from a popular chain in Amsterdam is taking the vegan London scene by storm! Nestled in the Mercato Metropolitano food court, this stall offers fully vegan ramen and other Japanese speciality dishes. Cedric ordered their "Amazement" (Soupless Ramen) and I got their Tan Tan Ramen (Ramen with Soup). Cedric's had added garlic and mine had added creamy-ness. Both were exceptional! I wish we could go here everyday!

Badiani Gelato Elephant & Castle

In the same Mercato Metropolitano plaza was this popular London gelato chain. They have multiple locations throughout the city and offer yummy ice creams of all flavors. We shared a vegan dark Venezuelan chocolate cup that was so decadent. This spot is a perfect treat after a great meal.

Mildreds

This is a classy upscale all-vegan restaurant chain with multiple locations around London. We visited their Soho locale late at night and saw many people celebrating their birthdays dressed up with family and friends. We ordered the Mojo Verde Chick'n Skewers and Shiitake Tempeh Dan Dan Noodles and couldn't believe the flavor! Our non-vegan English friend also enjoyed her meal at Mildreds.

Vaulty Towers

A funky pub in downtown Waterloo! Complete with wacky Alice in Wonderland style decor and unique seating including a moon structure and tree-house replica. They offer vegan dumplings in two flavors: Korean 5 Veg and Vermicelli. We got the most dumplings we could (18) and devoured them all! Very delicious with great dipping sauces. This place also has fun events at night including improv, trivia and model-life drawing sessions.

The Breakfast Club

This hip brunch spot had the best vegan breakfast I've had in a while! With house-made vegan chorizo, scrambled tofu and La Vie Bacon strips, Cedric and I were amazed. This menu is full of regular non-vegan breakfast foods for your non-vegan friends. We also learned that at night there is a secret speakeasy that you enter through a vintage refrigerator! How cool! It's called "Scaredy Cat Town" and to enter you have to request to visit the mayor! Unfortunately we were busy and couldn't go back for its 5:30pm opening but I would highly recommend it to anyone in town.

Overall, we had a blast trying out all the different vegan specialities around London and miss the food so much! We only got to 7 places out of 161 - maybe next time we can visit 10 more!
