In London we only had a few days to explore so we connected with our local friend Kate and she showed us the best of London in one afternoon including Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Camden Market, Trafalgar Square and more! We even got to see the changing of the guards! This video and blog will give you a great itinerary for a fabulous day in London, England.
Don't miss Westminster Abbey and Trafalgar Square
Two of London's most iconic areas! Westminster Abbey is a royal church and World Heritage Site in the center of London offering free services for all. For tours, Westminster Abbey costs £29 for adults to enter and kids under 5 are free. Trafalgar Square is a public square in the City of Westminster, Central London, established in the early 19th century around the area formerly known as Charing Cross. The National Gallery museum across the square has free entry for all! The Trafalgar Square lions are cast in bronze from the cannons of ships defeated in the Battle of Trafalgar.
Take a stroll in Parliament Square Garden and St. James's Park
Two wonderful areas with nature, statues and more! Parliament Square Garden has statues of famous historical figures such as Abraham Lincoln, Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi, while St. James's Park is reminiscent of Central Park in New York with its vast green area of trees and ponds. This park is bordered by three royal palaces and is the most royal of London’s Royal Parks. Ceremonial events from royal weddings, military parades and state celebrations occur here.
Preserve your travel memories with Prazoli
Another tip for you is our new favorite way to capture the magic of our travel adventures and create lasting memories together. In this vlog, you see us scribbling away in our Prazoli Couple’s Travel Journal. Shop this journal with my referral link here.
This interactive notebook is part travel planner, diary and couple’s quizzer. If you get annoyed and confused with travel planning notes in different apps then this is perfect for you! With sections for budgeting and trip itineraries, this book helps keep everything in place.
In between the planning sections are fun questionnaires for you and your partner. (The book is worded in a gender neutral way so it’s perfect for all kinds of couples.) From travel bingo to relationship questions, these fun excerpts will have you laughing and reminiscing with your partner throughout your trip. Plus, there are blank areas for inserting and saving ticket stubs, travel brochures and even photobooth strips, allowing you to hold all your paper keepsakes in one spot!
I was so excited to work with Prazoli in sharing this journal with all of my travel loving friends! Here’s more of a look inside in this video clip of Cedric and I unboxing our journal for the first time!
Visit Buckingham Palace for the Changing of the Guards
The changing of the guards takes place in three places: Buckingham Palace, St James's Palace and Wellington Barracks. Currently the promenade runs from 10:45am to 11:45am on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Check online for updated schedules. Fun fact: the Royal Standard flag is flown when the King is in residence in one of the Royal Palaces. In my vlog the flag was up, so the king could have been watching the crowd from his royal bedroom!
Camden Market is the hippest area in London!
With the best food, shopping and street life, Camden Market is definitely a spot you have to mark with a star on your itinerary! This area has two Camden Lock bridges. The one in the center of the square can be raised for boats and lowered for foot traffic. One funky store is Cyberdog. This two tiered shop sells the best rave, punk fashion and club clothing, as well as intimate items.
