Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia is known for more than just cats. Kuching's downtown is also famous for its IG worthy cafes, statues and waterfront area. In this video and blog article, I'll reveal the most beautiful sight-seeing spots that the feline-loving town has to offer photography mavens.
From silly statues to stucco art walls, here are my top four fabulous sights in Kuching Malaysia that will add pops of color to your Instagram feed.
1) Chinese Temples
Malaysia's population is a mixture of various cultural influences. This impacts the food, music and architecture. Because of this, there are countless Chinese temples in Malaysia. There are many in Kuching itself, but I specifically recommend the oldest Chinese temple in Sarawak - the Tua Pek Kong Temple. This temple is centered around the bustling traffic and, because of this, it's nice and small, which is good for snapping some quick photographs.

2) Colorful Walls on Jalan Padungan
Kuching's city center is full of bright yellow, spring green, plum purple and more multicolored walls, especially on the street called Jalan Padungan. This street is lined with Chinese shophouses dating back as far as the 1920s! These buildings are ornately decorated and very colorful! This lovely green wall is actually outside of a 24 hour laundry mat! Here are some addresses to help you get a vibrant image:

Yellow Wall:

Purple Wall:
Abell Hotel, 22, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, 93100 Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia
3) Cat Statues
As the saying goes: when in Rome, eat pasta. When in Kuching, take pictures with cat statues! There are about seven major cat statues throughout the city, but the two biggest ones are the Chan Chin Ann Tower and the Kuching North City Hall Family Cat Statue.
Pictured here is the Chan Chin Ann Tower (63, Jln Padungan, 93100 Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia) which features marble white cats waving around an elaborately decorated tower.
There is also the Kuching North City Hall Family Cat Statue (Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, 93100 Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia) which features a larger than life cat family playing in the center of the main city traffic roundabout.
4) Waterfront Area
When in town, you also don't want to miss Kuching's waterfront area. The modern architecture of the Darul Hana suspension bridge and the iconic flower shaped Sarawak State Legislative Building are both stunning in day and night photography.
